The Judgement Day & scientific facts...
Lately I’ve been receiving too many emails related to the Judgement Day, Armageddon & stuffs... especially since the Tsunami occurrence... I have to admit that most of these emails have good intention of reminding us that we have to be prepared for this Day, to reflect ourselves of what we have been doing up till now...
However, it seems that many of these emails came from unreliable source and have misleading facts... I received one yesterday...

The science of astronomy states that the speed of planet Mars has been
decreasing in its course toward the eastern direction in the few past
weeks to the level we notice the "waver" between the
east and the west...and on Wednesday the 30th of July the planet movement stopped going toward the eastern direction...
Then in the months of August and September...Mars changed its course in
the opposite direction to the West- and that until the end of September...which means the sun will rise now from the west on Mars!!
And this weird phenomenon of the opposite movement called "Retrograde
Motion" Most scientist state that all the planets will go through the
same once at least and our planet Earth is one of them. Planet Earth
will move in the opposite direction some day and the sun will rise from
the west!!
This might occur soon and we are unaware!
The rise of the sun from the west is mentioned in the hadith and this is
the major sign of the Day of Judgment, most if not all, the minor signs
have occurred. Wake up.
Our beloved messenger Mohammad (Peace Be Upon Him)
said: "One of the signs of the hour...the sun will rise from the west,
where no longer tauba (forgiveness) will be granted" !!
And the strange thing...most of our Shariah scholars mentioned that the
rise of the sun from the west occurs only once...on that day...the sun
will rise from the west...then again from the east...and continues until
Allah wishes...and this is similar to what is happening to Mars...it
stops, then it changes its course of direction for a short period of
time...then returns to way once it was.
And Abdullah Bin Amro (R.A.) said: (I memorized from the messenger
(Peace Be Upon Him) a hadith I will never forget...I heard the messenger
of Allah (Peace Be Upon Him) say: The first aya to come the rise of the
sun from the west) [Ahmad]
And the messenger (Peace Be Upon Him) "Allah places HIS hand at night
to forgive his morning sinners, and places in the morning to forgive his
night sinners until the sun rises from the west" [Muslim]
I’m sure that as a Muslim, we are aware and believe the things mentioned in the quoted hadith.... but I’m a bit unsure on the astronomy facts of 'retrograde' in the email... so I did a bit of 'search' myself & found several facts from here, & here with some interesting animation here
from that search, I realised that whoever wrote the article were either confused or was trying to give misleading facts on what actually happen during the 'retrograde' period... I’m not denying the fact that with God willing, it’s not impossible for the earth to turn all weird & resulted to the Judgement Day or some disastrous event… but in this case, it is not really a weird phenomenon as the mentioned planet had actually retrograde many times & this is a normal phenomenon for some planets in the galaxy... refer to the links I’ve provided especially the animation part for better understanding on this phenomenon... afterall these scientific knowledge are also knowledge from God and we are encourage to learn them & definitely in the right way...
I understand the good intention behind these kind of emails... but do people have the right to manipulate facts, come out with all sorts of stories, certain dates... in order to trying to justify when is the Judgement Day @ Armageddon... why don't we just rely on the facts from the Al-Quran & hadith on this matter? they are obviously the most reliable source... sadly, there are also irresponsible people who are trying to manipulate facts from these sources too... so, we have be aware & not simply absorb all kind of information without checking its reliability...
Moreover, why are we busy making assumptions on the occurrence of the Day?... as if we are focusing on certain dates or weird phenomena to happen then only we'll prepare ourself... whereas we should be prepared all along as we might not even make it tomorrow, next week, next month or even this evening... we just never know.... Wallahualam...
I just wonder, how many of us who receive these emails would immediately reflect and change ourselves for the better... & how many would just read these emails, feel sorry for awhile & just continue forwarding it to other people without even knowing the real facts...
