Raya Fever....
Assalamalaikum, halo everybody!!! How’s your hari raya? Ours was great! Afterall it has been a while since we had a real raya… hehe…
Facts about this raya:-
- Our 1st raya in Malaysia as husband & wife – we’ve been celebrating raya in Melbourne for the last 2 years & both were during final exam weeks…. Sigh! Our raya celebration only lasted till afternoon. But this time we’ll join the usual Malaysian way of raya celebration… a month!!!
- 1st raya with baby afifah – collect lots & lots of duit raya!!! Yea, yea… of course we are having holes in our pockets too… xpe, sedekah kat budak2…
- 1st turn of raya in Kedah, ad’s place = my 1st raya with my in laws – it was kinda quiet one, maybe not as happening as the one I usually had with my family. But it was less tiring, I even manage to have an afternoon nap with baby afifah on the 1st day of raya. Missed the menganyam ketupat daun kelapa session. In fact, I’ve yet eaten any ketupat nasi. Nasi himpit tu adala… but I learnt how to make ketupat daun palas & learning to like eating them as I wasn’t really keen of the glutinous rice before.
- Baby afifah’s 1st flight… from KL (LCCT) to Kepala Batas (Sultan Abdul Halim airport) – balik kampung flight. Alhamdulillah, she was asleep all the way but we weren’t lucky on our way back to KL as she was being very cranky. We even nearly missed our flight & being the last passengers to board the plane
- My 1st raya in our house in dengkil – my family moved there 2 years ago, ad & I were already in Melbourne on their 1st raya in the new house.
- My cousin Aril (arwah Mak Long’s son) held his engagement ceremony on the 5th day of raya – everybody gathered again at our house in dengkil so despite of being in Kedah on the 1st few days of raya, I still get to meet most of my close relatives & didn’t miss much of the loud family raya atmosphere… joined the 11 cars convoy for the meminang ceremony to Alor Gajah, Melaka…. Alhamdulillah semua selamat… InsyaAllah, it will be another 6-8 months till we have another big kenduri at our place… Enjoyed their asam pedas, went through the usual after raya traffic jam on our way back & then enjoyed a raya karaoke session with the whole family… it has been quite sometime since we had one… if only pak long & mak long are around… isk! Al-fatihah to them…
- Our 1st raya open house??? Hmmm still thinking… hehe… but friends are always welcome… afterall, it is raya month!
